WARPED
FREAKIN’
TOUR.
man, i would love so much to play warped tour this year before i go to college. you could say it’s my dream in the short term. and the thing is, all the bands that want to get on this so badly…they all deserve it equally. however, i’ve noticed a little bit of a difference: i see all these up-and-coming bands promoting themselves like crazy. i’ve tried to do it too, but i wind up failing. i wish sometimes that i were like those other bands that spend their lives promoting and then get these great opportunities, but i don’t…i work just as hard, but on nothing more than the music itself, so i always miss out :(.
if you could help me…my god that would be so amazing. i can’t quite articulate what this pull is for me to play a show like this, but it will be one of the most beautiful experiences i have to look forward to. please, find it in your heart to cast your daily vote for me…it’s no effort whatsoever but will have enormous paybacks. i promise :)
you can go to
battleofthebands.com/isabelleandaguitar
to vote, and you can do it daily, too. anything you can…from getting the word out to your friends, or remembering to vote, or posting a status/tweet/blog/etc. i mean think about it, we could absolutely make this happen. because when it comes down to everything, when i’m on that ernie ball warped tour stage come july 17th, the first thing i’m gonna do is thank you guys for being so kind to me.
and there you have it :)
i’m so happy to make the announcement that i’m enrolled in Colgate University’s class of 2014! i found out the news on friday. it’s an incredible school…anyone who is reading this should check it out. they also asked me to be part of their Benton Scholars for Future Global Leaders program which is such an honor, and i haven’t been able to think about anything else all weekend. although this means i still have to step up my (academic) game for the remainder of my senior year while all my friends get to slack off, i’m actually looking forward to doing so as my motivation is going to the greatest college ever :). only around 5 1/2 months until school starts!
…NO WAYYYYY I love We The Living! They came to my school to do this Invisible Children benefit…I ended up making friends with them and hanging with them for most of the day. They’re such sweet people and very musically talented. Even their tour manager is really…
You’re welcome! Thank you for the reblog! It made my day even better.
I also can’t wait until I can buy your music and have it to listen to all the time.
aw girl you’re so sweet. i’ll only be selling my music online starting when i get actual recordings done…i’m going to be working with this guy nick zinnanti who’s really great (look him up, he’s done a lot of bands you’ve probably heard of or listen to). and for real, you’ve been SO kind and supportive to me for the last half year (i always see your name come up!) that i’ll just email the songs to you for free.

NO WAYYYYY I love We The Living! They came to my school to do this Invisible Children benefit…I ended up making friends with them and hanging with them for most of the day. They’re such sweet people and very musically talented. Even their tour manager is really nice…they were all such kind people that I burned them all CDs hahaha.
They actually have been one of my biggest influences as far as the industry process goes. By their success I’ve realized that I don’t need to be signed to a label to do well in the industry, and I admire their DIY approach. The entire infrastructure of the way in which I plan to become successful is based off some ideas we were bouncing around together. Seriously, great choice to spread the word about them, I’m glad I came across this. And I appreciated the support for me as well, thank you!<3
things
i’ve been keeping myself really busy with things/stuff, most of which entails spending as much time as i possibly can out of the house. but today it began snowing really heavily, so i had to cancel my plans…thus, i am home. mom, the only other person i live with, is away on a vacation. when i’m done writing this i am definitely going to call someone because it feels really strange not hearing human voices around me.
musically, things could use improvement. as a second semester senior, my efforts (or lack thereof), have been geared towards spending my free time partying rather than writing. hey, i’m not complaining. i’m going to be seventeen in a few months, i have a whole lot of really great friends, and this is the best time of my life. if any writing gets done, it’s typically during class, because i’m blessed with an ability to hear entire songs in my head and script them without the use of an instrument.
over the next few months, i’ll be recording my first official full-length with producer nick zinnanti (he recorded for stereo skyline, set in color, gabriel the marine, his own band life between sleep, and maaaaany others), which we’re both pumped to do. nick’s a really generous guy and is doing a lot to support both me and girl saves world.
oh right, i forgot to tell you about girl saves world! it’s the charity i’m starting that is funded by my music. basically, 90% of what i make with music (from now through my entire career) goes to girl saves world, and 10% goes to my actual income so i can live/eat. the only issue is, i’m starting from absolutely NOTHING. luckily, i’ve scored a lawyer that’s doing the paperwork for me without a charge (it’s almost scary how many weeks of phone calls i had to make to find someone like that), but the problem is, i can’t escape forking over a thousand dollars to the IRS to secure tax-exempt status and a 5013C. like, the IRS makes a profit off of people starting non-profit organizations…what the heck? between funding recording so i can actually release music to get this thing started and funding the IRS so i can have something to GET started, i’m going to have to do a looooot of personal fundraising/playing on the street. even though i’m all gung-ho about getting the show on the road (pun completely intended) i know i just have to be patient and realize that everything about this process takes time.
if you wanna check out the girl saves world website, you can go to www.girlsavesworld.org and click around the site a little. i suck at graphic design so bear with me until i can figure out how to make it pretty :)
that’s all, i think. peace you guys!
ps. if you can’t find my music facebook page, it’s because i deleted my personal facebook, which was the admin to the music one. i might reactivate my page when i get into college.
this is a song you may know if you listen to my music. i wrote it about 3 months ago. essentially, this kid and i were best friends, and for no particular reason (seriously, NO ONE KNOWS why he suddenly changed), he ended our friendship.
so for a more creative “so there”, i wrote this to all the people in this world who think they alone have the power to define someone else’s emotions or well-being.
not all news is good news
today is december 31, 2009, the last day of this decade. i am choosing this day to make the announcement that i am leaving the band nice guys finish first.
conflicts with russell continued to rise, and i’m just not okay with having personal things cover up the music. music is supposed to be fun; a creative outlet, something that unites rather than tears apart and deconstructs. it’s the eve of a new decade, and i’d like to start 2010 with something fresh.
kerin and alex also felt they wanted to leave the band long before i brought it up to them for a few reasons, none of which i will post to respect their privacy. the four of us: kerin, alex, nicole, and i, have agreed to let russell to pursue his own interests in nice guys finish first while we form a band called Veni Vidi Vici.
i’m really excited for the opportunity to still work with these awesome ladies, because i love all of them so much and it would crush me to not be able to spend time with them socially and musically. kerin is my twin sister, alex always makes me laugh, and nicole is one of my best friends (we spend so much time together even when k and alex are away at school). i wish russell the best of luck in his solo pursuits and i couldn’t feel more privileged to consider myself one fourth of veni vidi vici.
this is a song i wrote called never broken
“screw you, social networking!” take two.
well, this is essentially what went down:
- i realized that the myspace generation is dead, which wouldn’t make the whole idea of a music myspace very productive anymore
- instead of a myspace, i began to primarily run things through my music facebook page
- i also created a wordpress blog to document everything from songwriting to playing shows to the latest industry news
- then, i realized that my wordpress account had many page limitations that i sort of didn’t want to be there
- so i decided to create this thing here. which seems to have less limitations, so you can now have access to a lot more media straight from this page. it’s also nice to be able to mess around with my own layout too and make it pretty and whatnot.
anyway, my name is isah, but my real name is isabel and some people call me ace. i am a musician under the name isabelle and a guitar and i play lots of things as well as make feeble attempts to sing. i have some pretty damn great fans if i do say so myself, and this page is nothing more than a way to further breach the gap between artist and audience.
